How Shibuya tours differ

Most Shibuya tours are walks of 1.5 to 3.5 hours in English. They differ in what they cost and in what the price covers. A walking tour can be free apart from a tip. A food tour includes tastings. A bar-hopping tour charges for the guide, and the drinks are extra.

The examples below come from single providers. They show what one product costs, not a market range. Listed prices are starting prices, not final checkout prices for every date, and a published offer does not show free places on your day.

The four examples in detail

Meeting points, groups and cancellation.

Daytime walking tour

You register in advance. Spontaneous participants are not taken. The meeting point is in front of SABON on the 3rd floor of Shibuya Mark City, and the tour ends at Hachiko. Children can join with an adult, and children up to 15 do not count towards the group size. At most five counted people can book, so larger groups book privately. Strollers are possible, but the tour is not wheelchair accessible. There is no cancellation or no-show fee.

Night walking tour

Same meeting point on the 3rd floor of Shibuya Mark City, same end at Hachiko. The length is given as 1.5 to 2 hours, so do not plan a tight schedule after it. The price is a tip, and the walk is not a package with bar entries or drinks.

Daytime food tour

This tour starts at 13:00, and guests gather between 12:45 and 13:00. The meeting point is given in your booking confirmation, so check it there. You taste samples at five stops, with one drink and dessert. Extra orders, transport and tips are not included. Allergies and diets are not guaranteed, and a stop can be replaced. Children aged 3 to 12 pay from JPY 13,200, children up to 2 are free, and from age 13 the adult price applies.

Bar-hopping tour

You meet in front of the FamilyMart Shibuya Orchard Road Store, about eight minutes on foot from the JR Hachiko exit. The tour visits three stops and runs 3 to 3.5 hours. You must be 20 or older and bring photo ID. Food and drinks are not in the tour price, and the basic orders are shared in the group. Cancel at least 24 hours before the start for a full refund. Accessibility and allergy-free food are not guaranteed, and vegetarian choices are limited, so ask before you book.

What to check before you book

The wording differs more than the prices do.

Date, product and meeting point

Check that the date, the product and the meeting place match. Public pages do not show whether places are free on your day.

What the price covers

A starting price is not a total. Tastings, a drink, extra orders, transport and tips are covered differently by each tour. Do not carry the terms of one tour over to another.

The evening drinking ban

In the designated area around the station, drinking in streets, parks and other public places is banned daily from 18:00 to 05:00. A tour does not change that. Drink inside the venues of a tour, not on the way between them.

Cash and ID

Bring cash for the bar-hopping tour and photo ID. Everything else depends on the provider, so read your confirmation.

Shibuya tours: frequently asked questions

Which Shibuya tour is the best?

That depends on the time of day and your budget. A tip-based walk suits a first orientation, the food tour suits a long lunch, and the bar-hopping tour suits an evening for adults. The table above compares single examples, not a ranking.

How much do Shibuya tours cost?

The two walking tours have no fixed price and work on tips. The daytime food tour starts at JPY 26,400 for adults in 2026. The bar-hopping tour charges for the guide, and you should plan about JPY 6,000 in cash per person for food and drinks on top.

Can children join?

On the daytime walking tour, children can join with an adult, and children up to 15 do not count towards the group size. On the food tour, children aged 3 to 12 pay from JPY 13,200 and children up to 2 are free. The bar-hopping tour is for guests aged 20 and older.

Do I need to book in advance?

For the walking tours, yes. Registration is required and spontaneous participants are not taken. Check availability for your date for the other tours too.

Can I drink on a tour in the street?

No. Drinking in streets and other public places in the designated area is banned daily from 18:00 to 05:00, and tour guests are not exempt.
